Why I started Evolutionis Landscapes
I think I've always been more comfortable with soil under my fingernails than without it.
As a kid I was building insect hotels and turning over logs looking for woodlice before I really knew why. Something about being close to the ground, finding what was living in it.

In my early teens I sailed for Great Britain in Optimist dinghies, competing internationally giving me the base skills for problem solving and working hard. I loved it.
In my mid teens on Saturdays I was at my grandad's allotment sowing seeds, digging borders, weeding, harvesting. And in the summers I was at my other grandad's place, picking fruit and foraging blackberries from the hedgerows. Two allotments, two grandads, two completely different ways of being in a garden. Both of them planted something in me that's never really left.

After my A-levels I started a horticulture apprenticeship with a Hillier Landscapes, installing planting plans, establishing specimen trees, maintaining high-end gardens across Hampshire. By the end of my first year I was reading designers' plans and delivering jobs on my own. I finished with a distinction.

The insect hotels were the beginning of that. I just didn't know it yet.
Horticulturalists
Kieran Young
I have a passion for horticulture in all forms, whether that be working through mixed borders-pruning shrubs and dividing perennials or researching planting combinations and creating planting plans for specific areas. I began my professional career installing high end gardens throughout Hampshire for multiple designers interpreting plans to ensure all the gardens came together as imagined.

I'm focused on caring for and installing gardens with precision and purpose while keeping plants natural in their appearance as they would be in their habitat allowing insects and animals to benefit as well.
